Our mission

Charity Mentors Oxfordshire’s mission is to provide leaders of the Oxfordshire voluntary sector with effective mentoring and to facilitate strategic thinking and skilful leadership.

Our vision

Charity Mentors Oxfordshire’s vision is for our county to have a resilient voluntary sector led by confident leaders with clear strategic purpose.

Charity Mentors was formed in 2013 by Marion Stevenson who, at the time, was working with a charity that had run into trouble and faced imminent closure. She was fortunate enough to turn to Robert Kirtland, now Senior Partner at Critchleys Accountants in Oxford, who helped her to explore all the options. This led to developing a solution that meant that the charity survived.

It was from this experience that the idea for Charity Mentors Oxfordshire was formed and Marion became the inaugural chair.

It was really helpful to step back and get independent support to reflect and plan. My mentor used his mentoring skills to help bring clarity to my thinking and his previous experience of being a CEO as well as chair of trustees was very helpful.
