How we work…

Our mentors

We currently have 18 mentors, all of whom have had experience of running and growing an organisation in the private or public sector. When charity leaders ask for our support in working through an issue relating to the long-term direction of their organisation, we match them with one of these mentors. The mentor works with the charity leader for 4 to 6 months, with monthly sessions of about 90 minutes, helping them to clarify what their options are, explore the best way forward and plan for the future.

It’s a free service.

What our mentees say

We gather feedback after every project so we can continue to learn, refine, and improve our support. Our former mentees are our strongest advocates — and their experiences speak for themselves.

The outcomes you can expect

Our mentoring consistently helps charity leaders achieve:

  • Greater clarity and focus on priorities and direction

  • Increased confidence in decision-making and leadership

  • Stronger, more effective working relationships with trustees, colleagues, and volunteers

  • Space to step back from day-to-day pressures and think strategically about the future

These benefits don’t just feel good — they translate into tangible results:

  • More targeted and effective fundraising

  • Stronger management practices

  • Improved service delivery

  • A more focused, confident leadership team

When leaders gain clarity and confidence, the entire organisation benefits.

I was extremely satisfied with the support given by Charity Mentors. I was looking for a mentor to help guide me in the implementation of our ambitious 5-year growth strategy. The mentor gave me the space to reflect and find my own way forward for the strategy that we framed.
